8. The Turf Tavern

The Turf Tavern is hidden so well that tee shirts reading, "I found the Turf Tavern" were once popular items in Oxford. Located off Holywell Street, between Broad Street and New College, this pub has seen its share of "names": Bill Clinton, Richard Burton and even Thomas Hardy. The Turf Tavern has served great food and locally brewed beer since the 13th century.
