5. Luna Caprese

The intimate Luna Caprese has been an Oxford institution for more than 30 years. You'll feel as though you've been whisked away to Italy when you walk into this little restaurant tucked away on the classy North Parade. The restaurant is dimly lit, yet the genuine friendliness and joviality of the staff brings all the light you'll need. The à la carte menu is hard to beat, all pastas are delicious and made fresh daily, and the Cassata Luna Caprese for dessert is absolutely sinful. When I visit Oxford, this is one of two restaurants I look forward to visiting - wonderful food and they do a great job of making a "lone diner" feel special and spoiled, even!
