PALM DESERT.   This touching memorial is dedicated to the hundreds of thousands who lost their lives in – and endured the unimaginable atrocities of – the Holocaust. Their story is told through plaques and seven larger-than-life bronze figures that rest upon a double-tiered Star of David 20 feet across. Located 10 miles southeast of Palm Springs.   (© 10Best)

I find the imagery to be typical and the sentiment average of holocaust memorials. It can be haunting to walk through the rows of light replicas in the early evening after seeing many depictions of them in print and television. On the same path as the Holocaust Memorial is a statue of a body sinking into the ground which I like to look at after the Memorial. It matches the deep and saddened feeling I get from thinking of the persecution of Jews in a century that is behind us now.
