3. Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert

Instructive hands-on exhibits characterize this facility, which also features a miniature rock-climbing area, a magnetic sculpture wall, make-it-and-take-it-apart projects, a rope maze, a family center, and an area for toddlers. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Located 15 miles southeast of Palm Springs. From January through April, the museum is open Mondays as well.   (© 10Best)
