9. Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

This tramway transports passengers in rotating cars 2½ miles from Valley Station in Chino Canyon to and from Mountain Station at the east edge of Long Valley. The route promises absolutely breathtaking views and access to the rugged San Jacinto mountains. Located 3 miles southwest of SR 111, the tramway is a must during any stay in Palm Springs. Hours:

Tram cars depart at least every 30 mins from 10am weekdays and 8am weekends; last car up is 8 p.m. with the last car down at 9:45 p.m (September-May). The last car up is 9 p.m. with the last car down at 10:45 p.m (June-August).

Adult $22.25; Senior (60+) $20.25; Child (3-12) $15.25; Child (2 and under) Free

This is a must for any visitor to the desert---40 degrees differential from the valley floor 360 degree viewing cars make this a very pleasant trip up the mountain---trails and views once you're there and now they've put in an upscale restaurant!!--remains to be seen how that will work out because of the logistics---the ride up is a little pricey, but a must do.
