Built in the 1920s, the adobe hacienda-style inn is located two blocks west of South Palm Canyon Drive. Two pools are available, including a lap pool. This relatively new property has the feel of a classic Spanish courtyard inn. Each suite features a full kitchen, library, dining table, sitting area, and fireplace. Rooms offer views of the courtyard and pool and provide glimpses of beautiful mountain vistas. A hidden garden spa is also available. From Palm Canyon Drive (Highway 111), take Arenas Road towards the mountains and turn left on Patencio Road. 7 suites. No children or pets allowed.

Dating to the 1920s, this elegant, exclusive inn is surrounded by a stucco and wrought iron gate, assuring intimacy and privacy for guests (including celebrities). Luxurious rooms are adorned with antiques and provide stocked refrigerators and whirlpool baths; some have fireplaces. Other amenities include a piano bar, award-winning Melvyn's restaurant, an outdoor pool, sauna, and jacuzzi. 30 suites, mini-suites, and villas. The inn is an official Palm Springs Historic Landmark.

Guest rooms feature amenities like romantic, white-sheeted beds, stone tubs and showers, and fireplaces; some also come equipped with kitchens. A full breakfast is served daily, along with afternoon tea. Spa services, weekend yoga sessions, and two pools are available as well. Beautiful grounds distinguish the property, which was built in 1924. Events can be accommodated. 28 rooms.

Bicycles are available, and a complimentary continental breakfast is served daily in your room. Built in 1954, the hotel is located two miles from downtown and 2½ miles from the Palm Springs airport. Closed mid-July through September. 22 rooms and suites.

PALM SPRINGS. Located on a cul-de-sac next to the Desert Museum and two blocks west of Palm Canyon Drive. A footpath winds up through the garden to the mansion, pool and whirlpool, and manmade 50-foot waterfall. Guest rooms are nothing short of spectacular and feature museum-quality antiques, sumptuous linens, fine art, fireplaces, and hardwood floors. Breakfast and afternoon hors d'oeuvres are served in the dining room facing the waterfall. This inn has played host to such famous names as Clark Gable, Carole Lombard and Albert Einstein. Closed from early July to early September. 8 rooms.
