Customers always ask, "How'd this place get its name?" Owners explain the name comes from the location of this casually upscale restaurant – 30 degrees latitude and overlooking the blue waters of the Gulf. Menu items are as creative as the name. Seared and bacon-wrapped scallops or veal chop stuffed with figs, foie gras and manchego cheese are delectable and perfectly prepared. Be sure to couple your dinner with a choice wine selection. Friendly service, a casual ambience and breathtaking Gulf views make for a first-rate evening out.

Angelo's is a critical and local fave for hickory pit-grilled USDA Choice steaks. Indeed, residents say you haven't had real food until you make the trip to this casual restaurant. The succulent, seared menu also features pit-broiled chicken and seafood favorites. If you go the red meat route, be sure to sample their signature sauce. Try your main course with a salad and your choice of chowder or potato, or pick and choose from the a la carte menu. Add a bit of class to the meal with a glass of wine, and be sure to save room for slice of their sinful Key lime or French silk pie.

Start off with white clam chili or a lobster relleno. From there, move on to the "Tastes of the Keys": coconut-crusted grouper or Key lime garlic shrimp, for example. Their Apalachicola oysters – baked, Rockefeller or coconut fried – are justifiably popular choices as well. A late night menu, spirited bar area and good live music ensure this seafooder entertains well into the Gulf night.

This friendly restaurant delivers traditional Caribbean favorites and, beginning at 6pm, great live music. Owned by a tropical island-jumping couple who've escaped the violent storms of their previous stops in Boanire, Key West and Key Largo, the Hurricane's menu is nearly as epic as its proprietors' stories. There's a good selection of salads and sandwiches for a light snack. More substantial fare, meanwhile, ranges from Trinidad steak and stuffed pork loin to Bonairean grouper and Saba shrimp. Be sure to pick up a book of recipes, a collection of island stories and a CD of local sounds.
