5ème ARRONDISSEMENT.
This Left Bank jazz joint features a number of well-known performers. The interior design has changed since its opening in 1947, and its funky cellar ambience permeates the downtown music club. A staple for New Orleans jazz. Concerts start at 10pm; from 2am they play swing, rock, be-bop and R&B. METRO: Saint-Michel (line 4, + RER B or C)

Overpriced tourist trap
The most brightly-lit "cave" I've ever been in really destroyed the mood. The band I saw was great but it was WAY too bright and the seating downstairs is uncomfortable.
The drink prices are absolutely ridiculous. 5 euro for a coke? 11 euros for a CRAPPY glass of cognac? Give me a break. The service at the bar was really rude. After charging one of the highest covers around you'd think they would keep the drink prices reasonable.

This was a fabulous place, fabulous music, from a big swing band. Reasonably priced and above all well worth the visit. On the downside though, were the annoying dancers. There not to add to the ambience or even for that matter to enjoy the dancing itself, rather they were merely showing off in a "look at us kind of way", dancing (badly and gracelessly across the small floor) to every number, detracting from the performance of the band.
