This stately 1904 mansion was the former home of Cheong Fatt Tze, an affluent merchant, industrialist and government advisor. The home embodies the essence of 18th and 19th century Chinese architecture and is among the three such buildings remaining outside China. Extensive restoration saw this historical landmark regain its initial splendor.

The former residence of Syed Alatas, a prominent Achehnese merchant who traded between Acheh and Penang. Following the Dutch invasion in the early 1870's, Alatas was integral in smuggling arms to the Achehnese insurrection. The mansion was later employed as a scrap yard and has since undergone extensive restoration.
