With a name that means "stone of the hole," these ancient stones have become shrouded in mystery as to their original meaning and use. Men-An-Tol is a collection of stones, the central focus of which is a round one with a hole in the middle. One of the fabled legends of the stones includes that of young ones being ushered through the hole in the stone in order to ward off and cure childhood diseases. You will find Men-An-Tol located just four miles northwest of Penzance. If you do visit, swing by the nearby Men Scryfa, an upright stone with ancient inscriptions on it. The inscriptions are supposedly of Christian origin, but this has never been definitely confirmed. (© 10Best) More Details for Men-An-Tol
