8. Jonah's Seafood House & 2601 Oyster Bar

EAST PEORIA.   No 'whale tales' here – Jonah's is one of the best places in Central Illinois for fish and seafood, as proven by fresh-shipped shrimp, crab, and red snapper. They all accompany great shellfish in the area's only true oyster bar, the 2601. Inside, diners find a scene rivaled only by fashionable, big-city eateries: weathered columns from an old locomotive garage, a granite-topped bar, and ceiling planks taken from the 1935 Hiram-Walker rack house. Loved this atmosphere. If you can get a reservation for a table next to a window you will get a fantastic view. Service was outstanding and food was very good as well. Prices are standard for this type of venue.
