These days, Philadelphia's restaurant scene has emerged as one of the most dynamic on the East Coast – heck, the city's even crafted and perfected its own genre of restaurants. Characterized by coolly intimate confines and limited seating, most of Philadelphia's BYOB (bring-your-own-bottle) establishments earn high marks thanks to fantastic cookery of their young, innovative chefs. Stellar non-licensed eateries like Django and Pif charge no or minimal corkage fees, and this plays right into the average Philadelphian's sense of independence.
