CENTER CITY.
First opened in 1892, the Reading Terminal Market is a great place for lunch or a snack. Several restaurants serve a full sit-down meal, but if your appetite is for something lighter, there are numerous bakeries, sandwich shops and organic produce vendors, as well as a beer garden. If shopping is your thing, you'll love the market – books, specialty foods, Pennsylvania Dutch products, Irish gifts, plants, and housewares are among the items on offer.

What a treat to visit such a historical place! It was lunchtime and since budget minded me was starving, I headed for Reading Terminal since it was highly recommended by the "locals". I was not disappointed by the activity and variety of shops. After wondering around and gapping at all the vendors, I finally made a choice. The whole experience was great! It is an experience I look forward doing again.

This "diner", by far, is the WORST place I have ever had the misfortune of dining in! After a long day at the convention center, my party and I headed down Arch Street for some cheap eats. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for… I kid you not, out of the five of us hungry folks, not ONE of us could get more than a few bites down of what was considered the "freshest ingredients" and most delicious food according to the menu. The "homestyle" turkey dinner was a shredded mess covered in some translucent yellowing thin gravy substitute over a slice of soggy white bread…The fried chicken was cold and rubbery, the corn on the cob barely cooked...not crisp, but downright hard to bite into. Figured they couldn't mess up a grilled cheese or a salad, right? Guess again! The salad had a thinly disguised "dressing" slopped all over it that was actually watered down mustard! The grilled cheese on egg bread sounded pretty good, until it arrived, and voila!...the cheese wasn't melted. We could not have picked a worse or scarier place to eat, and that is coming from a native New Yorker…
