OLD CITY. Where do they mix Philly's top martinis? Many folks'd tell you it's at the white-toned bar of Market Street's über urbane diner, The Continental. Without question, the evocative elixirs served up here have few rivals. What's more, they're perfect complements to the global tapas prepared by the kitchen – dishes like beer-battered shrimp and calamari with saffron aioli, grilled octopus or crab pad thai. As for the scene, try to envision a Kubrick-esque take on the diner concept, complete with sleek olive-green banquettes and olive-shaped halogen lamps.

CENTER CITY. This Center City restaurant and lounge made its debut in 2000, and in the years since has done nothing except cement its place atop the list of Philly's most attractive gathering places on or off the Avenue of the Arts. Indeed, the stylish space, which pairs exposed brick walls with cool, contemporary furniture, has become a neighborhood fixture, and many of its regulars are folks who are intimately involved with the arts. Come early in the evening and enjoy a pre-theater feast of Mediterranean and Latin-influenced tapas; stop by bar after the show, and you'll find the mixed crowd is comprised of more than a few pretty faces.

SOUTH STREET. Cool, casual and sophisticated, this South Street lounge is one of the places Philly's young and beautiful gather for requisite posing and preening. The lounge area has intimate seating areas with ottomans and comfortable furniture, and the adjoining room features a bar, dance floor and DJ booth. And while the sexy bartenders expertly prepare drinks that are sure to captivate both the palate and the imagination – the Girl Scout, for example, blends Absolut Vanil, mocha-caramel liqueur and crème de menthe – the kitchen serves tasty late night morsels like pizzas, Panini, and a peanut butter and banana sandwich that would've made Lisa Marie's pop proud.

CENTER CITY. Located on the 19th level of the Park Hyatt, this striking lounge is just to place to entertain a business client or raise a glass for a special occasion. A beautiful marble bar adorns the interior, and three cozy window seats give it romantic appeal. Choosing among the 19 specialty cocktails may be tough, but nothing else at this lavish spot should be. Have a seat on one of the rich brown banquettes, and sip a martini over candlelight.

This creative eatery/suave lounge incorporates a variety of novelties, from the whimsical curving bar to the luxurious cocktails to the charismatic DJs. Try the blondie, a refreshing mix of champagne, Stoli vanilla and pineapple juice, or opt for a rich chocolate-covered cherry martini (Starbuck's liqueur, cherry, Godiva dark, three olives). Designed to share, creative Euro-Asian dishes are served family-style and available in several portion sizes.

CENTER CITY. Exuding style and personality, this urban lounge draws a sophisticated, predominantly gay clientele. Patrons hover over small, chrome tables and sip specialty cocktails from Chocolate Cake (vodka, hazelnut, cream de cacao, vanilla syrup, cocoa) to Sex in the City (vodka, cranberry juice, champagne). DJ tunes keep the bar abuzz, but often the party spills over to the outdoor patio. A full menu features satiating eats such as the stuffed pork loin and grilled vegetable napoleon, and Sunday brunch is spectacular.

Strutting the streets of old city on weekend nights, fashionable, savvy young professionals bypass the neighboring joints and, without deliberation, stake their space at this cool cocktail bar. A fun variety of concoctions and a spacious contemporary interior explain the spot's appeal, and the DJ's selection of crowd pleasers playing in the background don't hurt either. Should you need to nibble, savory, Asian-inspired bites complement the bar's potions.

Like its stylish sister in Atlantic City, this loungey spot caters to Philadelphia's sexy set (celebs, athletes and veritable who's who of the city's best and brightest) by offering perks like European bottle service, VIP areas, private lockers and world-class DJs. As to the attitude, the state-of-the-art sound system floods the space with über cool house, R&B and hip hop beats, and the lavish decor is punctuated by eerie, iridescent tentacles that extend down from the ceiling, two sleek bars and luxurious furnishing. CENTER CITY. Classic furnishings, brass fixtures and dark wood accents flank this clubby lounge, where guests congregate on roomy couches and arm chairs to smoke and sip scotch. Over ten varieties of cigars are available, or guests may bring their own favorites.
