4. Uncle Jimmy's

OAKLAND.   Most bars located in the Oakland area are packed beyond belief with college kids most nights of the week. Uncle Jimmy's is a different breed, acting more like a hometown tavern even while surrounded by places catering to hordes of thirsty college students. That's not to say it's dead or that college kids don't frequent the establishment – only that Uncle Jimmy's caters to those who enjoy relaxed atmosphere, easy-to-come-by seats, and pool tables sans long waiting lists. As with most bars, the clientele during the day consists mostly of older residents but switches to a mix of young and old as the night approaches.
