The Oregon Historical Society began in 1917 and is still going strong. The headquarters for Portland history, this state museum features more than 85,000 artifacts representing early Oregon settlements, and the development of industry and business. History buffs are sure to appreciate this museum's extensive collection of maps, video, film, photos and microfilm. Of all downtown Portland museums, the Oregon Historical Society can safely boast the largest representation of Portland's history with a fine synthesis of the arts and tradition as well.   (© 10Best)
