About Portland Shopping
With no sales tax, Portland is a shopper's haven. There's a seemingly limitless supply of specialty shops, clothing boutiques, big box stores and antique shops, ready to fulfill each and every heart's desire. Downtown, near Pioneer Courthouse Square, you'll find trendy shopping with the likes of Nordstrom, Niketown and Saks Fifth Avenue as well as the Pioneer Shopping Mall. In the Pearl District, shoppers are treated to boutique and gallery shopping along NW10th and 11th Avenues. Prime Nob Hill / Northwest shopping can be found along NW 21st and 23rd Avenues. The eclectic and somewhat Bohemian Hawthorne District draws shoppers with its collection of bookstores, boutiques and coffee shops as does Sellwood, the epicenter for antiques in Portland. From vintage military items to old dishware, the inventory is vast at area antique malls and boutique shops that spill over into the nearby Westmoreland neighborhood.
