3. Nossa Senhora dos Remedios

LAMEGO. Visit this 18th century church that is dominated by its ornate, 600 (or more) step stairway. The phenomenal Baroque staircase is lavishly decorated with urns, fountains, azulejos, and granite statues. It is comparably similar to Braga's Bom Jesus staircase. A spectacular view of the Douro River and the town of Porto awaits you at the top of steps (and can be reached by car).   (© 10Best)
