5. Praia do Ourigo

This restaurant located along the Foz do Douro overlooks the crashing waves and rocky coastline along this stretch of the Atlantic. The interior is in sharp contrast with the rugged views; crisp white linen, traditional fine Mediterranean-blue and white china, and crystal grace diners' tables as the soothing sounds of classical music waft through the air. As one might guess by its location, seafood is the specialty with such delicacies as hake, octopus, a variety of shellfish and squid. Traditional Portuguese dishes and some international choices are offered, as well. This is also a popular place to meet for a drink, either inside at the elegant bar or outside on the deck.
