DOWNTOWN.   This warm, charming restaurant, lovingly attended to by chef-owner Bobby Trigg, is widely considered one of Princeton's best. Albeit pricey, the cuisine is a revelation of flavor, crafted around local ingredients. Fried calamari with soy glaze is a great starter, and mushroom-based appetizers are prominent. Entrees, then, include red chile-marinated chicken and grilled shrimp with crab mashed potatoes, BBQ-glazed filet of beef, and grilled breast of duck with stir-fried vegetables and a black pepper-ginger reduction. The menu changes with the seasons, and patrons may bring their own alcohol since the restaurant holds no liquor license.   (© 10Best)

We are in Princeton usually every week on business and have enjoyed quite a number of restaurants. We decided to try "The Ferry House" this past week for lunch. When we entered, the Maitre D' inquired why we were here - well, for lunch, we responded. He informed us that the restaurant was BYOB and did we want to buy a bottle of wine. Well, no, I said; he then rudely told us that we could sit at one of three tables for two. Two right by the front door which was rather cold and one in the very back. The Ferry House is a rather large restaurant, and at the very most eight tables were taken. We decided to spend our money somewhere else and lunched at Mezzaluna across the street. Both the service and food were quite good. Over the years, I have experienced poor service at times, however I have never experienced downright rudeness.
