DOWNTOWN. An institution in the eyes of Princeton University students and local high-school kids, this small sandwich shop has been serving cheap, filling food for years. That's not to say that its appeal is solely about price. Most everything served is homemade, and the hoagies are loaded with flavor and good things – just the way you order them. Folks come in throughout the day (and night) to pick up a hefty sandwich to go. Hot options include the cheese steak, veal parmigiana, and meatball and cheese; cold offerings include roast beef, tuna salad, and provolone and Genoa salami.

KINGSTON. Find a perfect cup of joe and a sweet treat, or perhaps one of Kingston's great lunches. Gourmet sandwiches served on fresh-made bread include white albacore tuna salad, a grilled salmon BLT, and flank steak, blue cheese, and roasted tomato on country bread. Delightful gourmet salads include a classic spinach, honey-tinged turkey Waldorf, zesty chicken feta, and a hefty chef's salad. Hot options include chili, quiche of the day, and grilled chicken. And since they're there, you might as well have a go at the dessert bar or an individual tart – at the least!

DOWNTOWN. For decades now, this eatery has lured folks in with light, fluffy, buttermilk pancakes, and on weekend mornings, lines string out the door as patrons wait for their turn at a stack. Luckily, hot cakes are served all day long. If breakfast doesn't hold your attention come midday, consider a cold deli sandwich or hot options that range from grilled chicken to hot dogs and cheese steaks. Burger platters (including turkey and veggie alternatives) can be had as well, complete with cole slaw and fries. An institution.

Of an evening, folks usually sidle up to the busy bar to score drinks, but the menu offers tasty distractions all day long. At lunch, you'll find fresh salads, hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, and main-course fare like potato-crusted salmon, fish and chips, and Black Angus meatloaf. While you wait, check out the table-top carvings made by Princeton students over the years.
