AMERICAN FORK. Located high in the Wasatch Mountains, this breathtaking national monument is actually three separate limestone caverns, each boasting its own distinctive color patterns and helictite and anthodite formations. In addition, mineral deposits hundreds and, in some cases, thousands of years old form fascinating draperies, popcorn formations, and flowstones, as well as stalactites and stalagmites. The Alpine Scenic Loop offers the most direct access to Timpanogos. Cave tour tickets frequently sell out, especially on weekends and holidays. Tour tickets may be purchased up to 30 days in advance with a major credit card by calling the visitor center.
