ALPINE. Make sure you take this route with camera in hand, for you'll likely espy some of the most spectacular views you can imagine. The Alpine Loop Scenic Backway winds and curves its way under the watchful eye of towering Mt. Timpanogos. Among the more noteworthy sights along the 24-mile scenic road is beautiful American Fork Canyon, whose dramatic rock formations, lush vegetation, and cozy campgrounds make it a favorite with nature lovers. Due to icy conditions and steep terrain, portions of the Alpine Loop are closed during the winter; contact the Uinta National Forest office for specific details.
