Boasting one of the city's more unique dining areas, Guru's exudes a trendy, international flavor with its own distinctive character and style. Indeed, huge sculptural "trees" punctuate common areas, and a neat slate tile path leads to the back counter, winding past tables, air-brushed landscape murals, cozy banquettes, and a few television screens along the way. The menu at this modern prairie diner is as diverse as the decor, with tasty selections spanning three continents: tacos and burritos, rice bowls, pastas, and so forth.

I absolutely LOVE Guru's. It is my favorite place in Provo and always meets my expectations every time. I would eat there everyday if I could afford it.

Based on my experience today, their quality is deteriorating and customer service is all but nonexistent. I ordered the thai peanut rice bowl, which I've had before (delicious) but this time it came out bland, with hardly a hint of thai spice or peanut, and the vegetables were clearly too old to serve. Usually customers, myself included, would just walk out and never come back, but since I've had good food here before (months ago) I wanted to bring it to their attention and maybe get some decent food for my money. First one cashier said they'd replace it with another item of the same price, but after I had waited 5 minutes another cashier came out with a certificate for $2 off my next meal. What good is that? I paid $6 for good food and didn't get it. I started to leave, but knowing by experience what not only is right but better for business, I went back inside. I explained what had happened and that based on my experience $2 off my next meal would be worth nothing since I wouldn't be coming back if this is how they did business. The two female cashiers tried to explain that this was just policy, that half of the meal had been eaten (it hadn't), and that a full refund or replacement couldn't be given. As I started to elaborate how restaurants can gain repeat customers by treating them fairly when they're kind enough to bring problems to the attention of the staff, another employee came up and started asking questions. He actually took time to understand the situation, and then offered to do something about it, but that's one out of three.
I like the atmosphere, I used to like the food, but for customer service, they're 0 for 1.
