3. Mount Isabel de Torres

PUERTO PLATA.   Ascending to the summit of Mount Isabel de Torres via cable car affords all-encompassing views of the north coast. The fort and tower there were built during Trujillo's rule, and you'll also see botanical gardens and have a chance to get away from civilization at more than 2,500 feet above sea level.
