VIEUX QUEBEC.   This smart Old Québec eatery has successfully fashioned itself after a Parisian bistro-café. A lovely front facade is marked by a large window that's thrown open when it's nice out; waiters attired in stiff bow ties and knee-length aprons stand ready to serve. The well-lit dining area features checkered tiles and intimate, café-style tables – few places provide a better setting for a business lunch. Menu specialties include French onion soup and garlic snails, mussels and fries, duck confit, and the immensely popular "Couscous Royal," a dish that looks too good to eat – at least until you sample it. Take a few moments to peruse the wine and international beer lists, both impressive.   (© 10Best)

HORRIBLE SERVICE! - I had researched a number of restaurants to visit while in Quebec City and after visiting the Cafe du Monde website I liked what I saw. I wanted to go somewhere with a dress code and had a selection of traditional fine French Cuisine. I called a week in advance to make a reservation, when we arrived we were seated 5 minutes before our reservation (this was a bonus), even though there was a long line of people 'coming in off the street'. I was a little set off by these people as a number of the restaurant guests were not dress in 'Business/Business Casual' as the restaurant states is the proper attire. Many people were simply wearing jeans and t-shirts. We were served promptly and placed our order, within 10 - 15 minutes our waiter had brought us our bread and 2 orders of French Onion Soup (very good!) after we finished our appitizer we waited an hour for our food (duck and salmon entree) the waiter then told us it would be no more than 4 minutes. We waited 10 and when we noticed that a couple who did NOT make reservations were finished and leaving the restaurant before we had even been served out entree we decided to leave. As we were exiting our waiter was standing near the kitchen area, but there no meals waiting to be served (open kitchen concept). The atmosphere is very nice, but the service is HORRIBLE! I DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT IF YOU ARE TAKING A TRIP TO QUEBEC CITY.
