SAINT-ROCH. The trendy Saint Roch district has several good bakeries, such as Le Croquembouche, an appealing little place owned by a professional baking couple. Named for the French dessert created from a heap of cream-filled profiteroles covered with lacy spun sugar, the shop has absolutely wonderful pastries and breads: chocolate éclairs, fruit tarts, flaky napoleons, palmiers, buttery croissants, brioche, baguettes, muffins and beautiful cookies, just to name a few. At lunchtime, the shop offers overstuffed sandwiches, quiches and homemade soups for hungry patrons.
