An alarm clock, voice mail and cable in each room make for a pleasant stay, and additional amenities include a 24-hour front desk and indoor pool. Activities such as golf, fitness classes and fishing are available nearby. NB Folks making frequent trips to Raleigh or those wishing to live in the city may want to consider investing in the Velvet Cloak Villas, luxurious apartment-style accommodations. 
Less than five minutes from the heart of downtown Raleigh in the historic district, the Velvet Cloak Inn is a five-story Victorian-style inn. There is no getting around the fact that it is an older hotel, but the class and charm of the place are unmatched.
