The Most Overated Experience of My Life!
Having read ratings and reviews online, and reviews from friends and family, I had high expectations for the Angus Barn. I viewed their website and got a particular impression of what to expect based on the photos of The Wine Cellar and the Wild Turkey Lounge, and by the menu especially the price. Let me assure all that glitters is not gold! I understand why they don't showcase their main dining room with photos on the website. It's a step above Cracker Barrel, country store included. As for service. When we pulled up front for vallet parking the attendant was nowhere to be found, so I let my wife out and parked myself. As she was waiting for me, my wife found the vallet, he was busy talking to an attractive woman. Once inside the service did not improve. The hostess was rather abrupt and I think we interupted her private conversation coming in and going out. At 8:30 on a Wednesday, with empty tables throughout, we were seated in the back next to the kitchen door. Our waiter and his assistant passed our table serveral times and chatted up the other tables near us before finally speaking to us. When we didn't order wine or drinks, we felt as though our service fate was sealed. The waiter was cool and uninspired at best for the rest of the evening. The table in front of us clad in jeans and t-shirts (Again Cracker Barrel) recieved his birthday cake with an eight inch sparkler and a photograph to commerate the experience. It was my birhtday as well, I got the cake with three tiny candles and no photo. The food was bland. I assure you that I can cook a better steak at home, and can make better garlic mashed potatoes. Ones that actually have a garlic flavor. For what we spent on this overated meal, I could have fed four friends a better meal, in a better looking dinning room, and with much better service. Don't believe the ratings. This is not an experience worth the price tag, the time, or the drive.
