More about Raleigh
Often referred to simply as the "Triangle," Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill surround Research Triangle Park, a sprawling business complex that covers some 7000 acres and is home to over 140 organizations that employ some 38,000 people. The area is rich in academics as well, with four major universities (Duke, NCSU, NCCU, and UNC-Chapel Hill), and numerous smaller universities, community colleges, and technical schools. Whatever your interests – sports, art, theater, music – the Triangle truly has something for everyone. A wealth of museums, galleries, gardens, parks, and historic sites provide hours of entertainment during the day, while the area's professional sports teams, restaurants, nightspots, theaters, and concert venues supply enough evening activity for even the most diehard night owl. A great base for exploring the rest of North Carolina, the Triangle is centrally located and served by several major highways, meaning you can drive to most places within about three hours, including the beach and the mountains.
