RAPID CITY. Repeatedly praised for the quality of its offerings, this complex brings folks just a little closer to the exotic. Begun in 1937 and occupying forty acres, Reptile Gardens shelters everything from Komodo dragons to giant tortoises. Four different shows concentrate on snakes, birds, farm animals, and alligators and crocodiles. You'll also encounter a selection of deadly snakes, beautiful orchids, and a crew of lizards. The grounds are beautifully manicured, and a gift shop and snack shop add to the appeal.
