loved it!
My fiance and I had a great time here during our fall visit and again for the Christmas show! Our favorite was feeding the giraffes!

Appalling Conditions
All of the above reviews are correct. This is an unpleasant and dirty place, apparently run by people with no regard for the animals. This is a disgrace to Richmond, and ought to be shut down.

So wonderful!
I took my visiting family to this zoo on Saturday, June 6th, and we all agreed it was the best zoo we'd ever visited. My 4 year old niece rode the sky ride TWICE and could name all of the animals on the way back! Feeding the farm animals, camels and giraffes was a highlight for everyone. My only criticism is that the animals are not labeled - I still don't know what some of them were! Overall it was a wonderful experience.

Horrible Trip
My family recently visited this zoo, 25 May 2009. I must say the conditions are appalling. The cages are not adequate, the animals lacked water and shelter. There was not proper shade. The primates did not have proper enrichment and were in small cages or small islands surrounded by dirty water. I would not recommend this zoo to anyone, unless you like to see animals in misery. They charge for everything, admission, treats, etc.. and they are not using it to care for the animals. If you go make sure to take pictures so you can report them to the proper authorities.

Horrible, this place in in-humane and shockingly unkept. Please do not give money to this privately owned zoo that cares nothing for the animals. Five chimps on a 800 square ft island surrounded by green water with trash floating in it is something I don't think any one should ever pay to see or support.

My experience at the Metro Richmond Zoo is one that I will never forget. The staff members were friendly, knowledgeable, and took great care of the animals. The buildings and animal areas were very well constructed and kept very clean. All of the animals were so happy with plenty of room to move around. I had a great time at the Metro Richmond Zoo. I give it top ratings and definitely plan to visit there again and again.

My daughter and I have been to many zoos around the country and this is by far our overall favorite. Thank you for your continual enhancements.

This is the perfect zoo for young children! The kids can walk the whole zoo without getting to tired, yet it’s big enough for them to be satisfied.
