DOWNTOWN. Richmond's oldest church, St. John's, was founded in 1739 and hosted the Second Constitutional Convention in 1775. Site of Patrick Henry's famed "Give me liberty or give me death!" speech. Re-enactments are held between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The grounds house a historic cemetery that includes famous Richmonders such as John Marshall, Henry Clay and Edgar Allan Poe's mother.
