OREGON HILL.
This unpretentious eatery is universally considered one of Richmond's best Italian restaurants. Legendary among Richmond natives for its long waits, chalkboard menu and no-frills service. Do not let the establishment's lack of elegance deter you; EVERYONE agrees the food is stellar! House specialties include the eggplant parmesan, calamari and tiramisu.

A Richmond native, I've been living in Switzerland for three years now. Having eaten in nice restaurants in Switzerland, Germany and Italy, I haven't yet found anything to match the excellent dining experience and unique ambiance of Mamma 'Zu. It's definitely a place I miss!!!

People need to stop recommending this poor quality restaurant. Bad service, mediocre pasta dishes, faux in-crowd clientele, and filthy surroundings are not chic unless you are so unsophisticated that you imagine that "this must be what it's like in New York." The whole experience is a mockery of what an authentic Italian city restaurant should be. Please get it off your list.
