1. Coffee Mill Ski Area

WABASHA.   Boasting what's billed as the "longest vertical drop south of Duluth," Coffee Mill is one of southeastern Minnesota's top ski resorts. The runs, many of which offer sweeping views of the Mississippi River, range from beginner-friendly (the Chippewa) to those with more dramatic pitches (O'Chute). Instructors are available at the slopes' ski school, holding classes for first-timers and advanced skiers alike. Located in the city of Wabasha, the slopes of Coffee Mill are less than an hour's drive northeast of downtown Rochester.   (© 10Best)
