4. Whitewater State Park

ST. CHARLES.   This 2700-plus-acre park, less than an hour east of Rochester, stands as a perfect example of why man should allow Mother Nature time to finish her artwork. Deep ravines flanked by majestic limestone bluffs and hardwood forests create a surreal scene, one that attracts thousands of visitors each year, including campers, hikers, snowshoers, and cross-country skiers. Anglers, though, get particular pleasure visiting Whitewater. Indeed, the park is known far and wide as a fisherman's heaven, its streams home to brown, brook, and rainbow trout.   (© 10Best)
