BYRON. Comprised of some 500 acres, Oxbow Park provides the perfect setting for a family outing. It offers four designated picnic areas, 20-plus campsites, and more than eight miles of groomed hiking trails. The park is so-named because it's located at a large bend in the Zumbro River that resembles an ox harness. Nearby Zollman Zoo is home to more than 30 native Minnesota species, many of them injured in the wild, taken in, and nursed back to health by the zoo's staff. Among the facility's residents are a bison, badger, porcupine, and bald eagle.
