The Museo Nazionale Romano opened in 1889 and was initially housed exclusively in the third century Baths of Diocletian (Terme di Diocleziano, the largest of the imperial baths which remained in use until the water supply was cut off by the Goths in 537 AD) located across from the Stazione Termini. The museum expanded in 2000 and now fills four distinct sites, including the original baths. This is one of the world's leading archaeological collections. Particularly noteworthy is the collection of original Greek sculptures and ancient Christian sarcophagi. Admission charge also includes entrance to the other sites of the national Roman museum: Baths of Diocletian, Palazzo Altemps and Crypta Balbi – for three days. BUS: C, H, 38, 40, 70, 71, 105, 714 or 910.
