Rome's largest and most central public park was commissioned during the 17th century and used by the Borghese and Bonaparte families, among others, until being bought by the State in 1903. Incredibly scenic, the park is comprised of paths, lakes, fountains and forests. It is also filled with historic buildings and world-class museums, as well as containing the city's new House of Cinema (www.casadelcinema.it), a children's cinema, bicycle rental sites, an anchored hot-air balloon ride, a legendary show-jumping track, and much, much more besides.
