This is the highest of Rome's seven hills, where in the 16th century construction began on the papal summer home. This plaza is surrounded on three sides by buildings, but on the fourth side, you have a spectacular view of St. Peter's dome and the surrounding city. Be sure and bring your camera! And if you are here on a Sunday morning, why not visit the President of the Republic's residence, the Quirinal Palace, too.
