Puts others to shame
Did plenty of where to dine research before we visited Rome (for the 3rd time). I am from Chicago and believe me we do Italian right in our City of Big Shoulders. I was so disappointed by many other places, but Colline Emiliane embraces all that is Italian. It is a family run kitchen with dishes that will have you begging for more. I had the minestrone, pumpkin ravioli (a must have to die for dish!!) and shared the warm chocolate/apple tort with my family. I am not usually a dessert eater, prefer another bottle of wine, but this was sooo amazing we ordered two more servings and probably would've ordered more if they weren't closing for the afternoon. Don't expect bells & whistles, this is a simple, family run place. Even got to observe the son arrive home from school, sit down to lunch in the kitchen and be doted on by family members and teased by an older brother. This is the real thing. Enjoy it, but don't tell too many others and spoil it!

As having worked in the service industry for 10+ years, I was highly dissapointed in the lack of service and quality of the food. Would never return or reccomend this place to anyone. Ambiance left much to be desired.

Terrific food, and you must try the butternut squash ravioli. Friendly and attentive service without hovering, and you have to have a reservation. these people know how to cook and if you go in late Spring, have the wild strawberries with lemon juice and sugar. Sublime, terrific. I'll go back when I return to Rome. Ate there twice in a six-night stay in Rome. The Rev says this is a great dining experience.

Having dined at the restaurant on many occasions since 1991, I can thoroughly reccomend it for its quality, home made "everything" its seasonal offerings, its desserts from la Signore, its splendid location away from all the bustle, its fantastic wine (vintage Lambrusco..... yes Lambrusco, its pasta, its giambonetto (veal) and its resistance to all things new. Do not attempt to visit without booking, there are more people turned away each evening than dine there, Mauro and Massimo are expert professional and unstinting in their efforts to maintain the gastronomic reputation of Reggio Emilia ................. beware there are no fisfh dishes but plenty of original authentic Italian food.
