Built in 1877, this Victorian California Governor’s Mansion historic site in Sacramento has been home to 13 state governors and their families. Visitors enjoy guided tours through this Sacramento museum, which is adorned with raised ceilings, marble fireplaces and ornate embellishments. In 1974 a new governor’s mansion was constructed in Carmichael, a suburb of Sacramento. The original mansion became a museum in California’s Historic State Parks system.
