Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Art

LIBERTY PARK. Quilts, rugs, and crafts displayed in this museum reveal the diverse cultural influences that make Utah what it is today. Visitors may make appointments in advance to view the pictures, books, and recordings housed in the museum's collections. On Monday evenings in August, live concerts are presented on the museum's lawn.

Classic Automobile Museum

DOWNTOWN. This museum houses more than 100 classic automobiles, which are both on display and for sale. You can see a 1906 Cadillac, along with Packards and a selection of celebrity cars. Whether you're a car buff or a serious collector, this is the place to come in Salt Lake City for auto browsing.

Daughters of Utah Pioneer Museum

DOWNTOWN. Similar in appearance to the Salt Lake Theatre of 1928, this building has four floors dedicated to different aspects of the city's history. The main floor focuses on Mormon leaders Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball. Doll exhibits are located on the second floor, and the basement displays memorabilia that once belonged to the military. Additional displays can be found in a separate building called the Carriage House.

DOWNTOWN. At this expansive facility, children are certain to have fun while they learn and engage with the world. A bounty of exhibits lets them find meaning from a small person's perspective, and they can explore areas like the farm, market, and construction zone. A 30-foot beehive introduces the garden display, and kids can learn more about storytelling, discover the world of media, involve themselves in art projects, and find out about medicine, science, and a variety adult careers.

Fort Douglas Military Museum

UNIVERSITY OF UTAH. Experience military history first-hand by taking a self-guided tour through this former United States army post. Cannons, sandstone structures, and parade grounds are a few of the sights you'll encounter. Some buildings can even be found on the National Register of Historic Places. Located adjacent to the University of Utah campus.

DOWNTOWN. Historical relics dating to the early 1800s are on display at this museum, and a film is explains the significance of several exhibits. The plow used as the primary "ground-breaker" in the valley can be seen here, as well as a variety of historical Mormon pictures.

DOWNTOWN. This gallery offers contemporary art exhibits, programs in the Utah Film and Video center, and classes for aspiring artists. Both the Main Gallery and the Street Level Gallery rotate works from national and regional artists. Each year, twelve exhibits are presented.

Social Hall Heritage Museum

DOWNTOWN. This musuem contains portions of Utah's first public building. Today, visitors can look through glass cases to see walls that originally stood in the Old Social Hall. Additional memorabilia and historical stories are provided, and guided tours are available.

UNIVERSITY OF UTAH. Representing some 4000 years' worth of artwork, UMFA reveals the distinctive visual styles of Egyptian, Southeast Asian, and African cultures (to name but a few). A wealth of information is revealed through year-round shows, lectures, and displays. The collection embraces everything from Thai and Scottish art to works by Pacific Islanders, ancient Greeks and Romans, and Native Americans.
