This cathedral was completed in 1655 and is a striking example of Baroque and late Italian Renaissance architecture. Situated throughout are awe-inspiring statues of biblical figures such as Jesus, Moses, Elijah, Peter and Paul, as well as the authors of the four Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Mozart was baptized here in 1756.

This stately Baroque church was designed by renowned architect Fischer von Erlach. Completed in 1702, the design of this massive structure reflects Roman influences. Noted for its dome, façade, and twin towers, the interior is equally magnificent – particularly the inspirational fresco of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

This castle, built on Dolomite rock, served as a fortress. Archbishop Gebhard commissioned the site in 1077 to protect Papal interest during Empire and Church conflicts. Hohensalzburg saw constant rebuilding and additions through the 15th century. Architectural features include cannon bastions, towers, and ammunitions depots.

Address: St. Sebastian's Church, Linzergasse 41, Salzburg A-5020
This gothic church was completed in 1512, and was further expanded in 1749. Heavily damaged by a town fire in 1818, the church has since undergone numerous renovation projects, most recently in 1996. The cemetery is the burial site for the Mozart family, Wolf Dietrich, and noted physician Theophratus Paracelsus.

Home to the child musical prodigy, this historical building is where Wolfgang Mozart spent his early years. On display are his violin, a spinet, and sheet music from his childhood. Also on exhibit are model sets, which visually depict the staging of his musical compositions, and additional opera memorabilia.

Ancient cemetery hails from the third century, and consists of tombs hewn into the rock walls, and a Christian catacomb. Featured in "The Sound of Music," this was the site where Liesel's Nazi boyfriend ousted the Von Trapp family.

A Benedictine monk built this summer home for Prince-archbishop Leopold Anton Firmian. Built in 1744, the grounds still boast a scenic lakeside and tranquil surroundings. In 1918, it became home to various cultural and artistic events.

Reminiscent of Italian-villa decor, this castle dates back to the early 1600's. Its exquisite fountains and gardens are only a prelude to the brilliant trompe-l'oeil artwork waiting indoors. The castle, built for Archbishop Marcus Sitticus, also houses an elaborate water-driven theater with over a hundred figurines that move to pipe organ music.

Ravaged by World War II, the house where Mozart lived was not reconstructed until 1994. Now, Tazmeisterhaus captures the everyday life of the composer and his family circa 1773 to 1787.
