8. Remember The Alamo Weekend and Dawn At The Alamo

The Buzz -- The dust subsided long ago, but memory of the valiant stand taken by a stalwart group of Texans against the invading Mexican army in 1836 is celebrated with pride every March. Over the course of the weekend, reenactments encourage observers to take a fresh look at both the Texan and Mexican sides of the battle. Period music and cannon demonstrations help bring history to life. A moving sunrise ceremony commemorates the Alamo's fall.
