A giant, 70-foot-long mural in Mi Tierra Café’s back dining room features the faces of everyone from Cesar Chavez to Selena to a baker who loyally worked in the restaurant for several years. Southern Living Photo by Art Meripol. ©2009. All Rights Reserved.
DOWNTOWN.
There are many things that might draw you to Mi Tierra, but the fact that it stays open all day, everyday, might just be a big reason. The cafe offers zesty Mexican food for all sorts of appetites, and service is outstanding. Memorable dining is not something you'd necessarily expect from a 24-hour place, but it's a welcome, pleasant surprise. Along with main-course fare, you'll also find an exceptional collection of baked goods.

This historic restaurant is home to the Oro de Mi Tierra Margarita and one of the most beautiful bars anywhere. A festive vibe dominates the restaurant - red, white, and green paper decorations, tiny lights, and blankets all swag from the ceiling. Mariachi players move among the tables. Try the Enchiladas Verdes de Pollo. (from Southern Living)

We had breakfast here off of a recommendation from a friend who knows San Antonio. He told us to arrive there between 9 and 10 and I would agree with that. we got there about 9:30am on a Saturday and it was starting to get very busy.
Located near El Mercardo (The Market) it is a great way to start off your day. If you just want a few pasteries from their HUGE counter, or if you want a full service sit down breakfast they have plenty to choose from.
This place is huge! My husband ordered what looks like a Mexican Breakfast with an American twist (bacon and eggs, etc.). The eggs were to die for! I ordered two breakfast tacos, one potato and egg and one was "Mexican Barbecue" and both were fantastic!
They bring you chips and salsa along with fresh homemade tortillas (corn and flour) and butter. Yummy!!
The coffee was good as well, but to be open 24 hours I guess you have to have good coffee. After breakfast there go check out the Market and you'll feel like you've crossed the border without a passport!
Mi Tierra is a must for an visit to San Antonio!!
