10. Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area

SILVERWOOD LAKE.   Born when Cedar Springs Dam was completed, this majestic, ice-blue lake is the highest reservoir in the State Water Project and one of the most breathtaking sites in the San Bernardino Mountains. Its waters offer a haven for anglers on the quest for trophy trout, large-mouth bass, and bluegill; land around the lake is great for hiking, camping, or an afternoon picnic with the family. One word of caution: the area is prone to seasonal mudslides, so contact the main office for details about possible park/road closures.   (© 10Best)
