RANCHO CUCAMONGA. Traditional American eats are this roadside eatery's forte. They include short stacks of pancakes, powdered French toast smothered in maple syrup, hearty omelets (the menu features almost a dozen varieties), corned beef hash, BLT and club sandwiches, cheeseburgers, and homemade soups. The setting, while comfortable and friendly, doesn't use flashy décor to distract diners – at BC, they let the food take center stage. Sadly, if you're hoping to have dinner here, you'd better reconsider: BC is open for breakfast and lunch only.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA. For red meat, Rancho natives know the best bet is this classic California steakhouse. Its rustic redwood siding, turquoise trim, and weathered rock walls create a cozy setting that's especially good for groups celebrating special events. Plus, the menu never fails to please, thanks to Midwestern, corn-fed beef – try a 14-oz. New York strip if your appetite is light, or opt for a 24-oz. porterhouse if you're a heartier eater. Entrees come with choice of soup or salad, fresh-baked bread, and starch (baked potato, steak fries, or skillet rice). If you can manage, fried ice cream is not to be missed.
