GASLAMP QUARTER.   Nouvelle Mexican may be unfamiliar territory if you're used to tacos and cheese-covered enchiladas, but prepare for a treat. Candelas utilizes a variety of traditional and authentic ingredients such as nopales, epazote, all manner of chiles, avocado, lime juice, tomatillos and tamarind in bright, refreshing creations like scallop and shrimp stuffed avocado, ahi-stuffed artichoke, absolutely fabulous salads, grouper with potato scales and poblano-corn sauce, and grilled beef filet with peanut-guajillo sauce and a cactus-poblano stack.
