HILLCREST / BALBOA PARK.   San Diego has a number of good Thai restaurants, but Amarin is widely considered to be the very best. Ingredients are unfailingly fresh, seasonings are exceptionally well-balanced, the spice level can be tailored to your preferences, and virtually every dish can be made vegetarian. Yes, pad thai is on the menu, but if you've been thinking of branching out a little this is the place to do it. The choices are vast, both traditional and contemporary, and the staff is helpful and accommodating. Unusually for a Thai restaurant, Amarin has a well-chosen wine list.   (© 10Best)
